Sony invested in Discord – the service is being integrated into the PlayStation console
The company Sony Interactive Entertainment today announced a minority investment in the amount of the creators of the popular (140 million users) among gamers messenger Discord . As part of the partnership, the service will be integrated with the PlayStation Network .
According to SIE President and CEO Jim Ryan, both teams are currently actively working to integrate Discord with PSN’s social and gaming experiences on PlayStation consoles and mobile devices. The integration should take place at the beginning of 2022.
“Our goal is to bring Discord and PlayStation closer together on consoles and mobile early next year, making it easier for friends, groups and communities to spend time, have fun and connect while playing together.”
In March 2021, there were reports in the press that Microsoft was in talks to buy Discord for more than $10 billion, but in April the service suspended all discussions about the sale with potential partners.
