How does the housing system work?

On the island of Aeternum, there are several houses ready for you to buy in every settlement. Of course, this assumes that several players can purchase the same building. But you don’t have to be afraid of squatters: You will then always be shown your own home – unless you specifically want to visit another player’s house.

You can invite up to four guests at the same time. All they have to do is join your group to gain access to your house.

Is housing instantiated?

The housing is partially instanced in New World. You share some locations with other players. This leads to overlaps. So that there are no problems, you will be brought into your own instance when you enter the house. You can take up to four other players into this.

How can you buy a house?

• You must first increase your reputation in the area of ​​the settlement . It is best to do the daily activities there. These include missions for the factions, helping with city projects or killing annoying monsters in the area.
• Your character also needs at least level 20 . If the reputation and level are high enough, you can buy a house. If these requirements are met, additional areas and houses are open to you. You can purchase up to three in total.

How do the houses differ?

Location, size, equipment, and price vary from house to house. You decide whether you want to live right in the lively city center, or rather a little more secluded on the edge of the hustle and bustle. Some buildings bring small gardens to decorate, others are limited to terraces or balconies. The settlements themselves also differ in their look.

What does a house in New World bring me?

As in real life, you can also use your home to express your personality and taste by expanding, furnishing, and decorating it. The furnishings range from basic furniture such as tables and chairs to plants or self-made or captured decorative elements. You can even find pets on the go and take them with you.

In an interview, Scot Lane, Game Director of New World reveals on housing:

“Imagine you want to fight a wolf, find one and kill it. You can hang the fur on your wall and now if you have this wolf in your house you will get a buff when you fight beasts.”

• The house acts as a retreat and a fast travel point .
• You can create magical decorations that will give your character bonuses for placing them at home. For example, they provide advantages in the fight against different types of opponents or improve your skills in crafting. The number is limited, however, so think about where you need a boost right now.

Competition: Who has the nicest home?

As in real life, a beautiful home can also reflect social status. Since the players share certain houses, there should be fierce competition in New World as to which is displayed to others in the settlement.

If you enjoy a high reputation and decorate your house in a particularly appealing way, you will then be shown to all players, unless you share the point with their home. You can use the house menu to compare your social status with other landowners.

A classic point system is used for evaluation: the more you see, the more points you get. A ranking list shows you who currently has the most points. Thus, the housing in New Worlds receives a small PvP component.

Can i lose my home

No, but you have to pay taxes to the ruling company. If you do not do this, the building will remain in your possession, but you will lose useful mechanics such as fast travel or the bonuses from decorations. In addition, you are no longer allowed to move furniture.
