Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Ghost in the Portrait Quest Guide

The Ghost in the Portrait is an event quest for Oogie Boogie in Disney Dreamlight Valley. It is the Week 3 quest, following the Oogie Boogie Contract quest. Similar to the previous quest, this new quest is a challenge from Oogie Boogie. Players must participate in Oogie Boogie’s challenges to unlock him at the end of the Week 6 quest. In this guide, we will walk you through The Ghost in the Portrait quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

The Ghost in the Portrait Quest Walkthrough – Disney Dreamlight Valley

Starting the Ghost in the Portrait quest requires you to read the mail from Oogie Boogie. Go to your house and open the Mailbox to read the “Let’s Have a Chat” message from Oogie Boogie. In the message, there will be a Lucky Wheel Ticket that you need to collect. Once done, the Ghost in the Portrait quest will initiate.

Go to Oogie Boogie and Inspect the Haunted Portrait

After starting the quest, head to Scrooge’s store and go through the Strange Mirror to meet with Oogie Boogie. Speak with Oogie Boogie and go through the dialogue. Once done, turn to the left and interact with the haunted portrait. Pick up the memory to solve a little puzzle. Put together the pieces in the correct locations to see the full memory. Once done, speak with Oogie Boogie to give him the latest Lucky Wheel Ticket.

Talk to Scrooge and Sabotage the Lucky Wheel

After speaking with Oogie Boogie, find and speak with Scrooge McDuck. He will give you a Plain Gift Box that you have to place in the Mirror Lair to cause a distraction. Head back to the Mirror Lair and place the gift box near the right staircase.

Now, head up the stairs and go over to the Lucky Wheel. Equip your pickaxe tool and use it on the Lucky Wheel to sabotage it. Pick up the Lucky Wheel Cogs and Ghostly Paint Thinner from the floor.

Free Zero from the Painting

Open the inventory and use the Ghostly Paint Thinner on your watering can. Once done, go over to the haunted painting and water it. Unfortunately, it was a fake painting. Speak with Oogie Boogie, and then you can find the real haunted painting on the bottom floor of the Mirror Lair. Head downstairs and use the watering can on the real haunted painting.

Talk to Merlin and Collect All Zero Essence

Zero is still trapped inside the painting. Leave the Mirror Lair and speak with Merlin. After speaking with Merlin, go back to the Mirror Lair and look around the first floor for Zero Essences. You need to find Zero’s portraits around the floor and interact with them. Here are all the locations for Zero Essences.

• By the window.
• On the table next to the right staircase.
• Behind the skeletons on the wall, next to the vault.
• On the dice.
• Behind the right staircase.

Craft the Real Ghostly Paint Thinner

After gathering all Zero Essence, go over to the Crafting Station and craft the Real Ghostly Paint Thinner. Once done, open the inventory and use it on your watering can.

Free Zero

Now, go over to the real haunted painting and water it to free Zero. This will unlock Zero as a companion. Lastly, head to Oogie Boogie to confront him. Go through the dialogue, and the quest will conclude.
