Even as a Shadow Quest Guide in Palia

Even as a Shadow is a new main quest for Subira, added recently with the Spring Spectacle: Toadstool Tales update in Palia. This quest is the continuation of the Elderwood story. During this quest, you will get to meet with Zendruu Tree to begin your adventure of healing the forest and learning its history. In this guide, we will walk you through the Even as a Shadow quest in Palia.

How to Complete the Even as a Shadow Quest in Palia

Starting the Quest

The Even as a Shadow quest becomes available after completing the Something Wicked quest. Subira will visit you at your housing plot. Speak with Subira and agree to go with her to begin the Even as a Shadow quest.

Meet Subira at the Elderwood Central Stables

After teleporting to the Elderwood Central Stables, go near the Echo Wall to speak with Subira. Go through the dialogues to complete speaking with Subira and Ulfe. Once done, walk towards the Echo Wall to go through it.

Make Your Way to the Zendruu Tree

As you venture into a new area, go to the path on the left. There will be a mysterious force preventing you from going ahead. Now, go back, and you will find Subira and Ulfe. Speak with Subira and Ulfe to continue ahead.

Speak with Subira Alone and Check in with Ulfe

After the conversation, go a bit ahead to find Subira alone. Speak with her and go through the dialogues. Once done, you need to check in with Ulfe. He will be near Subira’s location. Speak with Ulfe and go through the dialogues. As the conversation ends, Ulfe will drop a doll on the ground. Inspect the doll before going ahead.

Continue on towards the Zendruu Tree

Now, continue along the main path of the new area. Pass through various rooms and go straight to encounter Zendruu Tree. Speak with Zendruu Tree and go through the dialogues.

Speak with Subira and Place the Mysterious Candles

After speaking with Zendruu Tree, go back to speak with Subira and Ulfe. Tamala will join in the conversation. At the end of the conversation, Tamala will give you three Mysterious Candles to place nearby. Go to the right and place the first candle, then to the left to place the second candle, and then back on the main path to place the final candle next to the archway. Once done, speak with Tamala again.

Enter Zendruu Tree

After speaking with Tamala, you will be directed back to Zendruu Tree. Here, accept to enter the tree. After a brief sequence, you will return. Now, speak with Subira and Tamala to conclude the quest. Moreover, it will automatically begin the “Do Not Go Gentle” quest for Subira.
