Food for Thought Quest Guide in Palia

Food for Thought is one of the new Discovery Quests in Palia, added recently with the Solstice Bloom update. Reth is worrying about Jel not eating, as he was finishing his piece for his mother’s fashion show. You must help Reth figure out what magic recipe Jel would eat. In this guide, we will walk you through the Food for Thought quest in Palia.

How to Complete the Food for Thought Quest in Palia

Starting the Quest

The Food for Thought quest becomes available after surpassing Friendship Level 2 with Reth and Jel. If you have a high friendship level with both of them, you will see a quest marker on Reth. Go and speak with Reth to initiate the Food for Thought quest.

Figure out what Jel’s hungry for

Open the map to find Jel and then go and speak with him. Unfortunately, he will not eat anything until the job is done. It is better to look around for clues to see what Jel would eat. Go to Jel’s shop in Kilima Village, and you will see a book on a sofa on the left side near the entrance. Read the Dream Journal to learn that Jel likes a recipe with pumpkins.

After learning what Jel likes, go back to Reth and speak to him. During the conversation, select the “Pumpkin Soup” option as Jel is craving a meal with pumpkins.

Get 5 Rockhopper Pumpkins

Reth will not have any pumpkins to prepare a meal for Jel. You must bring 5 Rockhopper Pumpkins to Reth. To get Rockhopper Pumpkins, you have to grow them on your own using the Rockhopper Pumpkin Seeds. You can acquire the Rockhopper Pumpkin Seeds from Tamala Potion’s Shop. It is a new shop that players will get to unlock by progressing in the main story. To be exact, players will unlock the Tamala Potion Shop during the Nature of Shadows quest. Upon unlocking the shop, you can interact with the stall in the Centra Stables or speak with Tamala to access the Potion Shop. Here, you will be able to purchase the Rockhopper Pumpkin Seeds for 500 Infected Essence.

NOTE: The Infected Essence spawns regularly throughout the Elderwood map zone.

Rockhopper Pumpkin seeds take 2×2 blocks of Soil to plant. Upon planting the seeds, you need to water them each day (in-game) because it will take 9 days (9 hours in real-time) for the Rockhopper Pumpkin to fully grow. Once the Rockhopper Pumpkin has matured fully, you will be able to harvest it by pressing the F Button. It will give you 6-9 Rockhopper Pumpkins on each harvest.

So, after harvesting Rockhopper Pumpkins, go back to Reth. Give him the pumpkins and go through the dialogues.

Meet up with Reth and Jel

Now, go to Jel’s shop and meet with Reth and Jel. Speak with Jel and watch Reth giving him the Pumpkin Soup meal. Go through the dialogues, and the quest will conclude.

Rewards

Completing the Food for Thought quest in Palia will give the following rewards.

• Friendship increases with Reth and Jel
• 300 Gold
• 1 Pumpkin Stew (Star-Quality)
