Official: God of War 2 will not be released in 2021, version confirmed for PS4

It comes as no surprise, but now we finally have certainty. As Sony just announced via a blog post, God of War 2 will no longer appear as announced in 2021. After it has been extremely quiet about the upcoming appearance of Kratos in the past few months, the official confirmation should surprise few.

When will God of War 2 be released? According to Herman Hulst, head of Sony Worldwide Studios, the game will be postponed until next year. This is to ensure that developer Sony Santa Monica delivers “the fantastic game we all want to play”. There is no more precise period for the release as of now.

God of War 2 and Gran Turismo 7 appear cross-gen for PS4 and PS5

In addition to the rather sad shift, there is also good news (for many). Accordingly, not only will Guerrillas Horizon Forbidden West and the upcoming racing-exclusive Gran Turismo 7 appear for PS4 and PS5, according to Hulst, God of War 2 will also find its way to both platforms:

“Where it makes sense to develop a game for PS4 and PS5 – Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and God of War 2 – we will continue to focus on this option. If PS4 players want to play these games, then they can that. If you want to play the games on the PS5, that’s also possible. “

Due to the continued shortage of the PS5, the confirmation for many last-gen owners should be extremely positive. The slogan of PlayStation boss Jim Ryan “we believe in generations” is therefore definitely invalid, although there are of course games like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Returnal that appear purely for the current generation of consoles.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
