Pokemon sword is Nintendo switch's best-selling game in Japan (as of January 27-February 2)

Pokemon sword/shield made a record in the middle East. They have been making records in different countries around the world. When it comes to Japan they made a new record of ranking first in the Japanese chart for nine consecutive weeks, which is the absolute market record for all statistics tracking by Famitsu magazine.

According to the sales data shared by the Japanese Magazine Famitsu:

  • 9 weeks: Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield (2019)
  • 8 weeks: Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl (2006)
  • 7 weeks: Yo-kai Watch 2 (2014), Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (2010)
  • 6 weeks: Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters (2014), Mario Kart Wii (2008), Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver (1999)
  • 5 weeks: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (2018), Monster Hunter Generations (2015), Monster Hunter 4G (2014), Pokemon Black and Pokemon White (2010), Dynasty Warriors 3 (2001), Dragon Quest VII (2000), Final Fantasy VII (1997)

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
