Resident Evil 8 won't take full advantage of Xbox Series X power due to a deal with Sony

Following the official announcement of resolutions for RE8, a report has surfaced claiming that Resident Evil 8 will not take advantage of the full power of Xbox Series X due to a marketing agreement with Sony. The report consists of the publication of the alleged document containing this agreement, which in addition to saying that RE8 would be limited to Microsoft’s console, would also prevent it from coming to Xbox Game Pass.

Of course, there is no confirmation of the document’s authenticity. But if confirmed, it would be a new form of competition, beyond paying for temporary exclusives. If it turns out that Resident Evil 8 won’t take advantage of the full power of the Xbox X Series due to a deal with Sony, then this would drive a new wedge between the gaming industry and what is legitimate to do.

As for the report that Resident Evil 8 would not take advantage of the full power of the Xbox X Series, it doesn’t just make the claim, as we’ve said, but puts up the document where we can read specifically about the problem detailed in the report. According to the document, Capcom must guarantee parity of RE8 versions between Sony consoles and any other equivalent console available on the market for seven years.

In addition to Resident Evil 8 not taking advantage of the full power of Xbox Series X, the agreement posted by several users on Twitter also states that RE8 will not be available on any service that competes with Playstation Now, specifically listing Xbox Game Pass as a sort of anti-Game Pass clause. For now, we’ll have to wait for confirmation of the authenticity of this document. Although it would appear to have come from the hacking of Capcom servers in November 2020.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
