Sony patent suggests a possible dual-GPU PS5 Pro model with storage upgrades

Will PS5 Pro be on the market in a few years? A new patent seems to indicate some of Sony’s plans with a supposedly improved console model.

PS5 is already here, however, many are waiting expectantly for the aforementioned revelation of a superior console model a few years from now. Nothing has been said about a supposed PS5 Pro, but the appearance of a patent could shed more light on this issue.

The vast majority of consoles usually get an upgraded version mid-generation, so the community expects the same to happen with PS5 and a rumored Pro version. This is the subject of a recent revelation that gives an idea of some of the details of this possible improved console.

A patent assigned to Sony Interactive Entertainment has been discovered online and it offers very interesting information about a possible hardware design that could belong to the PS5 Pro. The highlight was the dual-GPU design shown.

The high-end system can also contain more memory and other functions can also be used for a cloud-optimized version, it is mentioned. One of the GPUs controls the HDMI frame output by virtue of receiving frame information from the other GPUs. Alternatively, the outputs of the GPUs can be multiplexed together. Here is an illustration of the design with two GPUs that could be incorporated into the console.

Of course, the fact that a patent exists does not mean that a better version of the recent PS5 is confirmed. The launch history supports the theory of the arrival of the PS5 Pro, but it is still too early to know for sure what Sony’s plans will bring. Perhaps in 2023 or 2024, we will be able to learn more about this issue.

The new generation has just been launched and PS5 is registering great sales around the world. The only problem is the lack of stock which means that with every new shipment of consoles, the websites of the major video game shops are collapsing again.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
