This is Link in the Japanese manual for The Legend of Zelda for the Famicom

Famicom, the name given to the NES in Japan, featured the original installments of a wide variety of Nintendo video games, the most popular today.

Well, on many occasions these titles were included with a manual or small guide, something that happened with the first of The Legend of Zelda in Japan. It’s funny to see how Nintendo depicted Link in the illustrations, very different from the way we see him today, something that makes sense given that 35 years have passed since then:

As you can see in the images, Link is recognizable due to his outfit, although he shows a more “young”, funny, and much less serious appearance than what can be seen in later releases. Undoubtedly, this reminds us of the “fat” Pikachu that we saw in the first installments of Pokémon.

What do you think? Do you think we’ll see this Link again at some point?

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
