According to a report by SuperData, total video game revenues on PC, consoles, and mobile devices were almost $127 billion in 2020, up 12% from 2019. Of that amount, $73.8 billion came from mobile platforms, $33.1 billion from PCs, and $19.7 billion from consoles.
78% of all revenue, or $98.4 billion, came from shareware games. This is 9% more compared to 2019. Most of the revenue – $73.8 billion – came from mobile F2P games, while shareware titles earned $22.7 billion on PC and just $1.8 billion on consoles.
59% of all shareware game revenue in 2020 came from Asian countries.

Premium (paid, pay-to-play) games, in turn, in 2020 in the “figure” brought 24.5 billion dollars, and the growth of revenue from them in annual terms amounted to 28%. Most of the revenue (84%) of premium games collected in North America and Europe.
The most successful premium game of 2020 in terms of revenue in the “figure” was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. According to SuperData’s calculations, it earned almost $2 billion — more than Animal Crossing: New Horizons ($654 million), Cyberpunk 2077 ($609 million), and DOOM Eternal ($454 million) combined.
Games for VR in 2020 earned in the” figure ” 589 million dollars — 25% more than in 2019.
