Subnautica 2: How to Get Troilite
Discover how to get Troilite, an end-game mineral that is essential for crafting the Mangalloy Ingot for Metal Farm in Subnautica 2.
Troilite is an essential yet limited resource in Subnautica 2 used to craft various things, including the Mangalloy Ingot. Unlike various mineral deposits, Troilite spawns in one of the most dangerous locations in the game. There is no Troilite in Coral Gardens, so you have to go to the Karakorum region, where you can run into a couple of Leviathans. However, once you get your hands on a few chunks of Troilite, you don’t have to return here, as you will be able to make the Metal Farm. In this guide, we will tell you how to get Troilite in Subnautica 2.
How to Get Troilite in Subnautica 2

The Troilite mineral deposits specifically spawn in the Root Canyon Biome of the Karakorum region. To be more specific, there are seven deposits in total, and each deposit gives you 1 Troilite. All seven of these deposits spawn around the oozing green lakes in the Root Canyon Biome.
How to Reach the Root Canyon Biome

Now, reaching the Root Canyon biome is in itself a difficult task. It is about 2,000 meters east of the Lifepod and about 450 meters deep. Since it is in such depth, you cannot reach it without the Tadpole Submarine. Moreover, you do need the Sonic Resonator, so make sure that it is in your inventory. After preparing everything, head to the Karakorum region and go to the Power Plant POI.
- From the Power Plant, you need to go straight down to the Angel Comb.
- After that, you need to follow the roots of the Angel Comb northeast.
- At the end of the big root, you will enter the area with the oozing green lakes.
Mining Troilite in Subnautica 2
Once you are at the Root Canyon biome, you will see two green lakes. One at the bottom and one on the ridge to the left side. There will be three Troilite deposits around the bottom lake, and four around the higher lake. To mine the Troilite deposits, you need to get out of the submarine and use the Sonic Resonator on them.

However, be careful, as the fish in the area will attack you once you come out of the submarine. Moreover, keep a low profile on the ground, as there will be one Leviathan directly above you. If you hear any boss music, it means the Leviathan is after you. Stay close to the ground as much as possible to stay out of trouble and mine as much Troilite as possible.
How to Farm Troilite in Subnautica 2
There is no specific place to farm Troilite, as you can only get about 7 Troilite. As Troilite is used in crafting for various things, you do have to get more. The best way to get more Troilite and farm it is to duplicate it using the Metal Farm. Use one of your Troilite minerals to craft the Mangalloy Ingot, and then use it to craft the Metal Farm. After that, you can duplicate all minerals, including Troilite.
