DDLV Players Are FURIOUS — Is Honeyglow Woods Just a Cash Grab?
“This might be the last straw for this game, for me.”
That’s what one Dreamlight Valley player wrote on Reddit — and 1,200+ others agreed. The new Honeyglow Woods DLC has just dropped, but instead of excitement, the community is seeing red. Why? Because players believe this “new” content is actually just the second half of a DLC they already paid for 6 months ago.
The Controversy: What Happened?
Wishblossom Ranch (WBR) — released about 6 months ago — was already criticized for being “massive, completely empty” with a super short story and very little new gameplay beyond horses. Players paid full DLC price but felt shortchanged.
Now comes Honeyglow Woods… and the similarities are raising serious eyebrows:
- Both biomes are directly inspired by the 100 Acre Woods
- The new world seems “directly ripped from Pixie Acres”
- Furniture & decor items match with WBR styles
- Beekeeping mechanic — bees were introduced in WBR
- Honeyglow Woods has a new minigame & stall type — which were “sorely missing in WBR”
The kicker? Honeyglow Woods has about as much content as WBR but costs half the price.
The Player’s Theory
The Reddit post (which went viral overnight with 1.2K upvotes and 398 comments) argues:
“At this point, you can’t convince me this one wasn’t meant to be the second half of WBR, but they changed strategy midway through making WBR to try to nickel-and-dime us.”
The timeline fits perfectly — 6-7 months between releases, which matches other DLCs’ final drop schedules. Players believe Gameloft intentionally split what should have been ONE complete DLC into TWO paid releases.
The Bottom Line
One player summed it up perfectly:
“I love Pooh, but I’m not paying 20 CAD$ for content that should’ve been included in the 40 CAD$ purchase I made 6 months ago.”
That’s 60 CAD$ total for what many believe should have been a single 40 CAD$ DLC.
What’s Next?
With 398 comments and counting, the Dreamlight Valley community is divided:
- Some are boycotting future purchases
- Others are defending the devs
- Many are just disappointed
