Infected Essence is one of the currencies in Palia, exclusive to the Elderwood adventure zone. Elderwood is the darkest and most eerie adventure zone in Palia. Exploring this zone can help you find numerous exclusive materials, fish, bugs, and creatures, including dark droplets known as Infected Essence. The Infected Essence is crucial to the main Story Chapter 2, which takes place in the Elderwood adventure zone. In this guide, we will tell you how to get Infected Essence in Palia.

How to Get Infected Essence in Palia

Infected Essence can be collected through various means, including picking up droplets, dark aura materials, hunting infected creatures, fishing in infected fishing spots, and catching infected bugs. Picking up the dark aura droplets around the Elderwood gives you 1 to 3 or 5 to 8 Infected Essence. For the rest of the sources, such as infected materials, you cannot pick them up as is. You will first have to progress through the main story and progress through the “The Nature of Shadows” quest. During this quest, Tamala will give you the Elderwood Potion. Drinking this potion allows you to gather infected plants and trees around the Elderwood zone. Alternatively, if you get the Bag of Illusion Relic, you will be able to gather the infected plants and trees without the Elderwood Potion.

Infected Creatures

While exploring Elderwood, you might come across some creatures with a dark aura around them. These are the infected creatures that drop Infected Essence after hunting them. However, shooting them with regular arrows does not deal any damage to them. To hunt these creatures, you need to use the Elderwood Arrows. You can craft these arrows at the Worktable after unlocking its recipe during the Shot in the Darkquest. Hunting an Infected Creature can drop 5 to 7 Infected Essence alongside its corresponding drop loot.

Infected Fish

Throughout the waters of the Elderwood zone, you can find the Infected Fishing Zones. Fishing in these zones gets you the infected fish that drop 5 to 7 Infected Essence on catch. However, you cannot fish at these zones until you use the Elderwood Lure. You can craft this lure at the worktable after unlocking its recipe during the “Something Fishy” quest.

Infected Bugs

Going through the caves and forests of the Elderwood zone can run you into various Infected Bugs. These are the bugs with a dark aura around them, like the infected creatures. Catching the infected bugs can get you 5 to 7 Infected Essence as a drop. However, you cannot catch them using the regular smoke bombs. You must use the Elderwood Smoke Bomb to catch the infected bugs. You can craft these smoke bombs at the worktable after unlocking its recipe during the “Bugging Out” quest.

How to Use Infected Essence in Palia

Infected Essence is an Unknown rarity currency in Palia. It is exclusive to the Elderwood adventure zone, and you can use it at Tamala’s Potion Shop and Subira’s Goods. You can find both of these stores at the Central Stables of Elderwood. Tamala’s Potion Shop sells various potions and other essential items.

In addition to that, Infected Essence is required in many main story quests. It is good practice to gather Infected Essence throughout your time in Elderwood.

Playing Video Games is the very first hobby that I partake in and it became my favorite hobby. Played Unreal Tournament 2004 as my first game which made me a fan of FPS Games. Story and Adventure Games are still my Cup of Tea to go with as they give more detailing to the described worlds and characters. I love to help out my fellow gamers across all over the world by making my publications.
