Jason Ronald, Director of program management at Xbox, said on Twitter that the comparison of downloads of the Outer Worlds on Xbox One S and Xbox Series S was made with the basic version of the game. RPG from Obsidian only launched in backward compatibility mode — no optimization and changes in the game code were required.
At the same time, it took 13 seconds for the Series S to load initially when it was launched from the main menu. This is about four times faster than on the One S, which took 53 seconds in a similar situation. The launch of the Outer Worlds from the dashboard of the console is also significantly faster — 5 seconds for the next generation of the console against 18 for the current one.
Earlier, Microsoft said that when you launch a game for Xbox One in backward compatibility mode on Series S, the version for One s is used. There will be no graphics improvements for the One X — although the image quality and frame rate will be higher.
The launch of the Xbox Series is scheduled for November 10. Pre-orders will be accepted on September 22.
