Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, the classic console RPG, is coming to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch tomorrow

Interplay and Wizards of the Coast announce the release of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S.

The Baldur’s Gate saga is one of the best exponents of the western RPG of all time, after releasing two glorious games signed by Bioware on PC. Not only that, but the franchise expanded to consoles with spin-offs and sub-saga more than interesting … and now fans of the saga will be able to enjoy, from tomorrow, a re-launch on current consoles.

We are talking about Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, the action RPG that was released in 2001 for PS2 and Xbox, which was later ported to the GameCube and Game Boy Advance. The game was an adaptation of the role-playing saga to console controls, betting on a 3D camera closer to the action, which at the time was one of the best role-playing titles that could be played away from the PC.

Interplay and Wizard of the Coast have announced that Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance is coming tomorrow, May 7, to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Despite not having native next-gen versions, the game will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S. You have to clarify a few things, and to begin with we will tell you that there will not be a physical launch; It will be exclusive to the PS Store, eShop and Microsoft Store.

This version of Dark Alliance for current consoles is a re-release of the original game, so don’t expect a big visual upgrade or new features. If we play it on PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 Pro, or Xbox One X, the game will run with a 4K rescaling, but it will not have improved visual effects compared to the original game from 2001. It will be available at a price of 29.99 euros.

We have inserted the announcement trailer for Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance (exclusive to IGN), which brings back the excellent 2-player cooperative mode of the original versions for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. Of course, this version will be adapted to the portable functions of the Nintendo hybrid console, and the controls have been revised for correct execution with the DualSense or the Xbox Series controller.

What about PC users? Well rest assured, because Interplay claims that Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance will also arrive on PC and mobile devices later this year, although also as a re-release and not as a remaster. The release date for these versions of the 2001 classic is unknown.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance will arrive tomorrow on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, through the digital stores of each platform. If you’re a fan of the saga and can’t wait for the final version of Baldur’s Gate III, from this weekend you can relive your experiences with this great PS2, Xbox, and GameCube classic.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
