Best Sword and Shield builds for Monster Hunter Rise

We continue with our series of Monster Hunter Rise articles with the quintessential weapon of tanks, the sword, and shield, and it is that knowing which are the best builds is going to be necessary to squeeze this weapon to the fullest. You already have the builds of the Hammer, the Great Sword, and the Long Sword available, in case you want to try other weapons.

Whether you play a support role within a group or are the main tank and the one in charge of attracting the monster’s attention, the Sword and Shield will be very important in your quest to be useful to your team.

These are the best builds for Sword and Shield in Monster Hunter Rise

The first thing to specify is the stages in which you will change the build:

1. Village Missions from 1 to 4 stars
2. Village Missions from 4 to 6 stars.
3. Online up to rank 7.
4. Online range 8-40.
5. Online 40-100.

1-4 Star Village Missions

In the first level, you are going to use a weapon that poisons: that of the Pukei . You will not get many interesting skills, but they will be enough to put up with the first monsters.

We return to a poison weapon and focus on the Critical Eye as the most important attribute. You will get quite interesting bonuses, this will be a moment in which you will have fairly large damage.

Get Critical Eye 7, Attack 4, Heroic 1, Rapid Recovery 1, and Anti-Dream 1.

Online range 8-40

We see again the Nargacuga weapon in its best version, which, accompanied by the equipment and the jewels, will do real damage when the weak points of the monsters are hit.

We continue with the Nargacuga’s weapon, seeking to do as much damage as possible to the weak points. You are going to get a really high affinity, and if we add to this that your weapon will almost never dull you will have more than enough time to get aggro or help your teammates.

Gain Attack 6, Critical Eye 3, Critical Boost 3, Weak Point 3, Master’s Touch 3, Quick Sharpen 3, Anti-Stun 1, and Balance Boost 1.

• Helmet: Kaiser Crown.
• Bib : Cota Vaik S.
• Gloves : Rathalos S.
• Girdle: Golden Obi.
• Greaves : Hunter’s Greaves S.
• Talisman: Weak Point 2.
• Jewels: x3 Mastery Jewel 2, x2 Critical Jewel 2, x1 Softening Jewel 2 x3 Sharpening Jewel 1 and x1 Tenacious Jewel 1.

Best build of the latest patch

The best build from this latest patch still uses the Nargacuga’s weapon, although in this case it’s entirely focused on the Valstrax team, the last creature to make its way into the game through the patches.

Gain Attack 6, Dragon Heart 5, Resentment 3, Stamina 3, Critical Boost 3, Weak Point 3, Quick Sharpen 2, and Balance Boost 1.
