Digital Foundry: the "pirate" version of Resident Evil Village works better than the licensed one - it has no slowdowns

One of the editors of Digital Foundry, Richard Ledbetter, compared the work of the “hacked” version of Resident Evil Village with the licensed one and shared the results.

  • The expert confirmed that the “pirated” version of the Capcom shooter fixes both key issues related to the performance of the game.
  • In the “hacked” version, there are no micro-delays when shooting at enemies, which in the license can reach 130 ms, and there are no slowdowns during the appearance of Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters.
  • The hacker EMPRESS, who hacked the Village, previously stated that the micro-delays were due to additional validation of the security mechanisms in Denuvo 11. According to Ledbetter, either Denuvo is actually causing the problem, or the hackers were able to optimize Capcom’s game better and faster than the company itself. He also noted that there is an assumption that the “hacked” version is missing some animations during the battles with the daughters of Dimitrescu, which probably could cause one of the problems.
  • Ledbetter said that Capcom should apologize to its customers, but do it constructively – urgently releasing a patch that would bring the performance of the licensed version in line with the “pirated” version.

Earlier, an unofficial patch was released for Resident Evil Village that eliminates micro-delays.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
