Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to Fast Travel

The world map in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is bigger than the original game and it offers a lot more secrets and locations to be discovered which can take a lot of time in traversal. Either you are searching for hidden chests that grant valuable items and stronger weapons or Seeker’s Tokens, you must travel a great amount of distance which can take you even over a night to reach a new hidden location.

However, reaching your destination is one part as you would also have to come back to the main towns to either rest or deposit your findings. It is where the fast traveling system in Dragon’s Dogma 2 comes into play but it is relatively not as simple as you think. There are mainly two ways to fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma, one is instant and requires a usage of Ferrystone and the other one is through a public transport called the Oxcart.

This guide will provide you with intel on both of the methods for fast traveling in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to Fast Travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Fast Traveling in Dragon’s Dogma can be done by either using a Ferrystone to travel instantly to a location of Portcrystal located mostly in the main towns and villages or getting into an oxcart to take a ride to a specific location. Both of these methods are helpful in their own way as the first one is instant but it is expensive while the other one is sort of a quick one but can put you in a position to fight a group of enemies or an ogre, etc. and it is cheap.

How to Fast Travel by an Oxcart in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Traveling in an Oxcart will be introduced to you fairly early in the main story. Upon reaching Melve for the first time and encountering a flashback of a Dragon’s attack, you will get to meet with a group of soldiers who will escort you to the Capital of Vermund, Vernworth. As you follow them along the journey, they will put you on an Oxcart that will take you to the capital.

Now, to use the Oxcart for your own endeavors, you must be in the main towns and villages to find a stop for Oxcart. Oxcarts are not available everywhere and there are only a few locations where you can find them. There are two Oxcart stand locations in Vernworth outside each of the capital’s entrances.

By reaching the Oxcart station, you can speak with the owner of the Oxcart to let your character board the cart which will cost you 100 Gold. After making the deal, you just need to sit in the cart and then Doze off by pressing the Triangle/Y button to pass the time and reach the destination. However, there is a high chance that you might be woken up along the way due to an enemy encounter so, you will have to clear the path ahead to continue your journey to the destination costing you additional time.

Furthermore, if there is not any Oxcart at the stations, you can wait for the Oxcart by interacting with the small bell tower at the station. It is a small tower with a bell which will allow you to wait for the Oxcart arrival. Simply interact with it to pass the time and let the Oxcart appear at the station.

How to Fast Travel by Using a Ferrystone in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Ferrystone is one of the rare items in the game that can be obtained through various means which include, defeating certain enemies, searching treasure chests, turning in Seeker’s Tokens, and purchasing them from a General Store. However, holding the Ferrystone in your inventory is not enough as it will require you to first find and activate a Portcrystal. Portcrystals are located in the main towns and villages around the world map. You can find one in Vernworth and Harve Village. It is a crystal sculpture emitting a purple shine which can be activated by interacting with it.

Once the Portcrystal is activated, it will be added to the list of Portcrystals that you can travel to when you use the Ferrystone. To use the Ferrystone, simply go into the Items menu and select the Ferrystone to use it and it will open the map along with the available locations where the Portcrystals are activated. Choose the location you wish to travel and you will be teleported to Portcrystal’s locations instantly.

Best Method to Fast Travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2

If you have to choose between the best fast travel options in Dragon’s Dogma 2, then it would be the Ferrystone one as it has the capability of teleporting you back to the main towns or villages instantly without any interruption. As Oxcart is not available in all the places that you visit, it would be a very difficult traversal for you if you don’t have any Ferrystones available in your inventory.

Ferrystones do cost a whopping price of 10,000 Gold from any General Store but it is efficient and it is recommended to keep at least one in your inventory if you are going out for exploration because you never know how far you reach and which dangers you might have to face.
