How to Catch Raikou, Entei, and Suicune In Crown Tundra

The three Legendary Dogs from Johto — Suicune, Entei, and Raikou — have made their way to the Crown Tundra in Pokemon Sword and Shield. As is the case with most of the other Legendaries in the new DLC, you’re tasked with hunting down this Legendary trio and capturing them. Fortunately, catching all three Legendary dogs is one of the easiest parts of the Crown Tundra, as well as the most genuinely enjoyable.

Whether you’re a Suicune stan or an Entei enthusiast, this Crown Tundra Legendary Dogs guide will make sure you catch all three of Johto’s illustrious Legendary trio in no time at all.

How to Catch Raikou, Entei, and Suicune In Crown Tundra

The first thing that players need to do is to unlock the Max Raid Den in the Crown Tundra. Players will be invited onto a Max Lair run by Peony, which will eventually result in a battle with one of the three Legendary dogs. However, players will need to get through a few other Dynamax encounters beforehand.

The Legendary dog that will appear first will be random for each player. Players should note, however, that they can only capture one Pokemon from each Max Lair run, and each Legendary pokemon can only be caught once. Additionally, Players will only know if the Legendary Pokemon is a shiny after they decide to take it.

When going up against the Legendary dogs, their battles won’t be easy ones. Because of this, players are recommended to play toward each Pokemon’s weaknesses in battle. Suicune has a weakness against grass and electric type moves. Entei has a weakness against ground, rock, and water-type moves. Finally, Raikou has a weakness to only ground-type moves.

Players will need to keep trying Max Lair runs until they find the legendary dog Pokemon they are looking for. However, as players unlock more Legendary Pokemon to appear in the Max Lair, it may become more difficult for players to find the specific Legendary dog Pokemon if they don’t pursue them right away.

As mentioned before, the Legendary dogs are not shiny-locked like the Galarian Legendary birds and Calyrex. However, the odds of finding a shiny Legendary dog will prove to be very low, as the odds are 1 in 300 under normal circumstances. This can be made to a 1 in 100 chance if players have a Shiny Charm. Shiny Raikou has more of an orange color to it, shiny Entei has black face fur instead of red, and shiny Suicune has a blue mane instead of a purple mane.
