Ark: Survival Ascended - Stone Hatchet

Stone Hatchet is one of the starting tools and weapons in Ark: Survival Ascended that can be used to chop down trees and kill the smaller dinos for meat and other useful materials. It is crucial for you to have a Stone Hatchet as soon as possible to defend yourself from the angry dinos to increase your survival on the island.

In this guide, we’ll go over how to craft Stone Hatchet in Ark: Survival Ascended.

How to Craft Stone Hatchet in Ark: Survival Ascended

Stone Hatchet is an Engram Level 2 recipe that can be unlocked by leveling up your character to Level 2. Once you have reached Level 2, you will learn the Engram Level 2 and all of its recipes including Stone Hatchet. Like every other crafting recipe in Ark: Survival Ascended, Stone Hatchet also requires specific materials which are the following.

  • 1x Flint
  • 1x Wood
  • 10x Thatch

Flint can be obtained from mining the rock deposits using the Pick tool and Wood and Thatch can be harvested from the trees using the hatchet or bare hands. Punching the trees will harvest thatch most of the time but it does damage your character so, make sure to keep an eye on your character’s health.

After gathering all of the required materials, open the inventory and select the crafting menu to craft the Stone Hatchet by selecting it. It will take a few moments for Stone Hatchet to craft and once it has been crafted, you can equip it from your inventory and place it into the quick inventory slot to use it quickly.

Keep in mind that the Stone Hatchet has a durability of 40 which will gradually decrease on use. If the durability of the Stone Hatchet reaches 0, the Stone Hatchet will break requiring you to recraft it.
