Upgrading your tools in Palia is essential to getting higher-grade materials such as Iron and Palium ores, Hardwood and Flow-infused Wood, etc. Higher-grade materials are essential for crafting mid/end-game items including tools, refined materials, workstations, and decorative items.

In short, making progress will require you to upgrade the tools and this guide is mainly focused on how to upgrade each tool in Palia.

How to Upgrade Tools in Palia

There are seven different tools in Palia, each one is used for certain actions. Every tool is given to you by a corresponding NPC and each NPC pursues a certain Guild.

Ashura: Gives Axe
Hodari: Gives Pickaxe
Badruu: Gives Hoe on the first meet.
Badruu: Gives a Watering Can on the second meet.
Einar: Gives Fishing Rod
Auni: Gives Belt
Hassian: Gives Bow

The tools that are given to you initially are the Makeshift grade which can be upgraded up to three times. To upgrade a tool in Palia, you will first have to level up the corresponding guild level of the tool to unlock the recipe for the next (upgraded) tool at the Guild Store. After that, you need to purchase the recipe and then craft it at the Worktable.

For instance, to level up the Makeshift Axe, level up the Foraging Guild to unlock the Standard Axe recipe at the Foraging Guild Store at Ashura. Now, purchase the recipe from Ashura and then craft it at the Worktable.

How to Upgrade Axe in Palia

To upgrade the Axe, you need to level up the Foraging Guild to unlock the recipes for higher-grade axes at the Foraging Guild Store (Ashura). After that, purchase the recipes to craft them at the Worktable.
