Paper Mario: The Origami King Producer Explains Why There Are So Many Identical Toads
Perhaps something that has caught your attention in Paper Mario: The Origami King and the latest installments in this series is a large number of identical Toads out there. Well, in a recent meeting with the GamesPC medium, the game’s producer, Kensuke Tanabe, has ruled on this decision.
Apparently this is not within the scope of the Paper Mario developers but simply states that it is “not possible” to develop or reuse your own characters, something that was in line with the statements we received a few days ago about the impossibility to modify characters.
At the moment, it is not possible for us to develop or reuse our own characters, such as modified Goomas or Toads from previous games. Of course, as developers, we listen to the opinions of fans, but as mentioned, we cannot make each Toad unique or give him his own outfit. For now, we cannot fulfill these wishes. Instead, we give these characters individual traits that emerge from the different ways they speak. Even if they look the same, we do our best to make sure players enjoy their conversations. However, in Paper Mario: The Origami King we use custom outfits on Toads determined if players need them to continue the story. I think it is a step forward.
