Paul Haddad, the voice actor for Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 2 has passed away

Paul Haddad, the voice actor for Leon Kennedy in the character’s Resident Evil 2 debut, has passed away at the age of 56, confirmed by invader Studios.

Paul Haddad, our dear friend and an icon among the RE community, has passed away recently. We’ve been truly honored to have the chance to meet and work with such a great man and a brilliant professional that He was. Rest in Peace Paul… You will live forever in our hearts.

Invader Studios™ is an independent Italian software house, located in the Roman countryside, founded in July 2016 but it has operated since 2014.

Invader Studios had recently collaborated with Haddad on Daymare: 1998, a survival horror homage to Resident Evil that served as the actor’s second video game appearance.

Haddad performed in the Stratford Theater Festival in Stratford, Ontario for two years. In the 1996 festival, I have played Bassanio in The Merchant of Venice.

Haddad voiced Uncle Arthur in Babar from 1989-1991.

Haddad’s voice roles include Quads, Mythic Warriors, Cyberchase, Noddy, The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, Little Bear, The Magic School Bus, RoboRoach, Pearlie, Franny’s Feet, The Adventures of Tintin and Rupert.

In 1995, Haddad played Gerald Schulze, Edward Schulze’s (Matt Frewer) brother who runs the local market in the DisneyToon Studios animated comedy film BugHunt.

He is best known for voicing Leon S. Kennedy in the video game Resident Evil 2. Due to the popularity of his voice work in Resident Evil 2, Haddad was asked to voice a character in Daymare: 1998 (which I announced via YouTube video in January 2019).

No official cause has been provided for Haddad’s death

I have something to share with you. On February 14, Our dearest friend paul Haddad posted a message on FB. Here is the complete post below:

I never thought I’d arrive at this desperate and devastating milestone in my life. The past 8 years have been an incredible struggle, Healthwise, Emotionally, Mentally and Definitely Financially. I feel isolated, alone, sad that I’ve lost dear friends from long ago and for over 7 years I’ve has practically insurmountable obstacles preventing me from working, loving, giving and above all Living a Full, productive, rewarding Life. I thank God for the love of my Mother, Brother and Sister. And a handful of Angelic Friends. I’ve suffered from Severe OCD since the age of 12. I’ve hidden it all my life. Suffered in silence. Back then, there was no treatment. About 7 years ago I discovered that there was going to be a trial study of a revolutionary new device, something out of Blade Runner, an implant in specific areas of the brain that treat the specific mental disorder, be it Anorexia, Parkinson’s, Deep Depression, OCD and various forms of Addiction. DBS had made it’s entrance into the forefront of Medical and Mental Health Treatment. I was accepted into the the Study funded by St Jude’s in Chicago. Manufacturers of the DBS Devices.
I would become the 30th human on this planet to have this Cutting edge yet unproven treatment for severe mental health issues.

For 5 years, what changed dramatically was I no longer needed to take Antianxiety meds. Like Clonazepam. Maybe 1 tablet every week or so. Instead of 2mgs daily. I concluded that the DBS Device didn’t eradicate or erase an iota of the obsessive thoughts OCD so insidiously prays upon your Psyche. Instead, it dramatically diminished the anxiety felt, the Panic, the dread, the fear your may die because you can’t stop the endless loop of thoughts and would be forever plagued by them.

Essentially, the Obsessive thoughts remained, but the Compulsions to respond to those thought, for me it was 10-12 hours of mad binge cleaning, cleaning things that even had a hint I’d possibly being unclean. After the DBS Procedure, I reduced my Complusive behaviours, the incessant washing, cleaning, avoiding and hiding by almost 60%.
Every 2 years we had our battery replacement. My 3 was scheduled for last October 2019. I could have chosen the newer 10 year long battery but that one you needed to charge several times daily and I was not in a reliable frame of mind so I opted for the old school device battery that lasted 2 years but need no patient maintenance whatsoever.

On surgery day, things didn’t work out as planned. In post op after my 80 minute battery replacement procedure, I developed a massive hematoma. My nurse freaked. My doctor’s were aligned to discharge me within the hour. I felt week. Turns out during the morning surgery an artery was knocked and I had begun bleeding out internally. 5 hours later I woke up in recovery. I had a full on Brain Surgery Procedure to save my life.

I lived another day.

About 8 days after returning home, I felt weak, lethargic and generally couldn’t lift my head from my pillow. Where the battery had inserted an enormous boil had begun to develop. Practically looked like a botched breast implant. I was in excruciating pain. Finally a few weeks later I got a follow up with my DBS Surgeons and to address my severe inflammation in my chest and neck and head. Pain. Throbbing.
Low and behold, I had a massive Infection and was immediately placed on heavy IV Antibiotics. For a month. The infection didnt diminish or subside. It got work. They extended the Antibiotics another 2 weeks. Finally, the lead surgeon, the renowned Dr Andres Lozano, a North American Pioneer of DBS Surgery determined my infection had most likely spread to the wire and chip in my brain and immediate removal of the entire DBS Device was essential.

I’m now DBS Free. My OCD is back at an all-time high. And I’m falling down the Rabbit hole.

My career is at a complete Standstill. I haven’t dated or had a lover in 10 years. I’m single, middle aged, broke, lonely, with the exception of my Mother, Brother and Sister and a handful of heaven sent Friends who have shown me compassion I didn’t know existed.

ODSP is much appreciated but after my rent is coveted, I have under $500 for all my other expenses for the month. I’m too uncentered and frightened to hold down a retail or waiting tables job. My OCD is at its worse in 30 years.

I have a brilliant Psychiatrist. Dr Brian. He’s saved my Life and Ass on numerous occasions.

I’ll forge ahead. Gradually. Perhaps one day ACT again!
Love Again! Love again!
Love to all of you,
Im in debt. I can rarely afford a coffee at Starbucks and I need their free Wifi. Lol.

Just want to heal, pay off a few small loans from beloved friends who can barely support their own families. Innot Looking to travel. Actually, I haven’t flown anywhere since prior to 9/11. Not because of that horrifying tragic day. I’ve just been broke as a Churchmouse!

Lol

I thank everyone of you for taking the time to read my very first Personal Reveal. I’d be forever grateful for any support anyone can manage. I’m ashamed of being in this situation. But I have to fight to survive and today I’m fighting.
God Bless You All!
Paul
