Rumour of possible fantasy game at Naughty Dog denied

Concept art by a Naughty Dog designer made us suspect they were working on a fantasy game … but they’re actually based on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Updated: The artist has updated his post to completely dispel the rumors: this is not concept art from a new game, but from an existing one … specifically, the women of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Original news: After the positive reception of The Last of Us Part 2 and the emotional farewell to Nathan Drake in Uncharted 4, it’s time to ask whether the studio will continue to exploit its established franchises or jump into the pool with a new project that moves away from those names.

Of course, concept art doesn’t indicate or confirm a project, since it’s “conceptual”, but it could be the first clue as to what’s behind Naughty Dog at the moment. What are we talking about? Well, we’re talking about the recent theory that the studio is focused on developing a fantasy game.

At the end of the year, Hyoung Nam, a concept artist who is a member of the Naughty Dog ranks, shared three highly interesting pieces of art via Artstation. All of them follow the same fantasy theme showing three women with different outfits that could fall within the medieval theme and even based on Celtic or Viking cultures.

The publication that bears the name of The Women of North has a brief comment from its author, which is very interesting. Get inspired by the new game. You know what I’m talking about … Does this mean that its developer is working on a game with this theme?

Of course, there is nothing confirmed far from it. What is certain is that, if so, a title of this nature would be a novelty for Naughty Dog, who has focused a lot on portraying the contemporary world in its games.

That the developer studio is already working on a new project is already confirmed. Druckmann explained that the creators of The Last of Us Part 2 are already preparing a game for PS5. Would you like to see this fantastic theme represented by the famous developer?
