saros how to lower the difficulty

Saros is a roguelite action-adventure video game set on the Carcosa planet. It is a spiritual successor to Returnal, offering third-person action with a challenging and chaotic experience. Although there are no difficulty options in Saros to make the experience more casual for new players, there is a way to tone down the difficulty without any disadvantages. In this guide, we will tell you how to lower the difficulty in Saros.

How to Lower the Difficulty in Saros

Saros uses a unique feature of Carcosan Modifiers to let players alter the base experience. Players can use Carcosan Modifiers to activate buffs and nerfs to balance out the experience for their next run. However, you must trade buffs with nerfs to activate the modifiers you want. As nerfs make certain aspects of gameplay more difficult, it is still possible to breeze through challenging sequences.

Now, what the game does not tell you is that you can activate Protections (buff modifiers) without needing to balance them with Trials (nerf modifiers). To do so, you have to turn ON the Unlimited Protection Modifiers option in the game’s settings. This option becomes available after unlocking the Carcosan Modifiers feature. Open the game’s settings, and you can find this option in the Gameplay tab.

Turning ON this option allows you to lock in the Carcosan Modifiers even when in the Underpowered state, which you normally cannot. This way, you can make use of the buffs without activating any nerfs. However, you can only choose up to 6 modifiers, so you must choose carefully to alter the experience, preferably.

NOTE: Using Carcosan Modifiers does not impact the rewards or trophies in Saros. They are only for altering the experience.

The “Unlimited Protection Modifiers” option is mainly for casual players who want to enjoy the world and narrative with reduced challenge. If you are finding Saros a bit challenging, and you do not want to trade buffs with nerfs, then this option is your way to lower the difficulty. You can complete the whole story with this option ON and experiment with different modifiers throughout. Moreover, this option does not affect the player from earning any trophy.

Playing Video Games is the very first hobby that I partake in and it became my favorite hobby. Played Unreal Tournament 2004 as my first game which made me a fan of FPS Games. Story and Adventure Games are still my Cup of Tea to go with as they give more detailing to the described worlds and characters. I love to help out my fellow gamers across all over the world by making my publications.
