Starfield: How to Fast Travel

Starfield offers an immense world filled with hundreds of planets that players can explore. Players can select any planet from various Solar Systems in the Milky Way Galaxy and explore the planet of their wish. As planets are immense, players can easily cover great distances from their ship’s landing point. However, there is a way to get quickly back to your ship and travel to planets quickly in Starfield.

How to Fast Travel in Starfield

Unlike other RPGs, Starfield has two different Fast Travel mechanics for two different scenarios. The Fast Travel Types in Starfield can be easily declared as On-Planet Fast Travel and In-Space Fast Travel. Both of the Fast Travel mechanics work differently and players will have to meet certain limitations as well.

On-Planet Fast Travel

The On-Planet Fast Travel is used when players have landed on a planet and by exploring the planet have gone far from their ship. In such a scenario, players can use the On-Planet Fast Travel mechanic to directly go to the location of their ship. To do the On-Plant Fast Travel, players need to open the Scanner by pressing the LB Button and look toward the position of their ship. It will give the players an option to fast travel to their ship by pressing the A Button. By simply doing so, players will be fast-traveled to their ship and they can leave the planet to explore another planet in the same solar system or another.

However, there are a couple of limitations while doing the On-Planet Fast Travel. The first limitation is that players need to be out on the surface of the planet. They cannot fast-travel from inside a settlement on the planet. If they are in a settlement, they will have to leave the settlement to do the On-Planet Fast Travel. Another limitation is the Overweight. If players are overweight by carrying numerous items, they will not be able to fast travel to their ship. They need to either drop the items on the ground to do the fast travel or simply walk back to the ship.

In-Space Fast Travel

The In-Space Fast travel is used when players are in space and trying to land on a planet either in the same solar system or another.  There are two different methods to achieve this fast travel type. One of the simple methods to do fast travel on the planet is by opening the Starmap and selecting the Landing Point on the planet that players want to fast travel. If they do not see any Landing Points, they need to press the LB Button to scan for resources on the planet and it will highlight the landing points on the planet. After that, players need to press and hold the X Button to land on the landing point and it will take players to the planet.

If players need to go into another solar system, they will have to set a course for that solar system from the Starmap and then use the Grav Jump to reach the selected solar system. After that, players need to do the same process of finding and selecting the landing point to land on the planet.

Fast Traveling in Starfield is different from many other games and it can be complex for players at the start but once you have learned how to use your Scanner and Starmap, you will find no trouble while fast traveling.
