The new trailer for Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 does not seem to indicate that Zelda is a playable character

The Nintendo Direct on 15 June brought us a spectacular trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. And, unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for theories of all kinds to emerge.

One of them was that we would be able to control Zelda in the game. This is mainly due to the fact that at all times the protagonist appears on his back and with longer hair, although that doesn’t mean that this hair is Zelda’s. These are the details that have been shared to believe that once again we will only be able to control Link:

  • The fact that Zelda seemed to have a larger role in the story led to discussions as to whether she would be included as a playable character.
  • Since then there have been persistent rumors that Nintendo would allow players to use Zelda during gameplay.
  • Fans have been asking to be able to play as Princess Zelda in future games, and the first trailer for Breath of the Wild 2 only fanned those flames by including the character so heavily in the footage.
  • However, this latest trailer gives no indication that Zelda will be playable. This will almost certainly disappoint many fans of the series who wanted to be able to change the perspective.

Nintendo confirmed during the Livestream that they are aiming to release Breath of the Wild 2 in 2022 and also showed off some new features and gameplay mechanics, such as the ability to explore the skies above Hyrule. Link can also apparently teleport short distances and use a number of additional items.

It is therefore likely that Link will remain the sole protagonist.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
