Insiders point to a high-profile new Microsoft purchase

Obsidian Entertainment, which has joined Microsoft, has received a big budget to develop Avowed, a massive RPG game for the Xbox Series X | S and PC. The head of Xbox Phil Spencer told about this in an interview.

While we’ve barely learned more information about this project since then, Spencer wanted to take the time today to highlight how excited he is about Obsidian Entertainment’s new game. In fact, he assured that Xbox is interested in giving the studio everything they need to make this their biggest project:

“Avowed is different from The Elder Scrolls, and players will see it later. Obsidian Entertainment is an insanely talented studio. We have allocated a big budget and given the time it needs. I am confident that when it comes out Avowed will be the best game of these developers,” Spencer said.

Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, also said that “it was the game they wanted to make” at Obsidian Entertainment when the game was announced last year, at which point we got to see an impressive trailer for the project that, for now, is the only thing that was published.

Avowed is an RPG set in the world of Eora, where the Pillars of Eternity games, series by Obsidian Entertainment, also take place. In this universe, the undead roam freely and magic is something common and useful to fight them; both our magical abilities, which are activated by drawing runes in the air and our sword technique will be crucial in facing what appears to be a dark and hostile fantasy world.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
