Amiibo is a toys-to-life platform by Nintendo, which was launched in November 2014. It consists of a wireless communications and storage protocol for connecting figurines to the Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch video game consoles.

Why do people Collect Amiibos?

A lot of people buy them and leave them in-opened so that a long time later, they’ll hopefully be rare collectibles, and having a large collection in “New” condition will be worth thousands or millions of dollars. But if everyone is the collection and not unboxing, I don’t think they’ll turn out to be that rare.
