Rumor: It’s Kalos’ time after The Crown Tundra of Pokemon Sword/shield
As you know, this autumn we will receive the second and apparently final batch of additional content in Pokémon Sword and Shield – the second part of the payment expansion pass, known as Crown Tundra. However, a rather wild theory has been circulating on the Internet recently that the game itself could receive even more content by the end of this year or even in 2021.
This is something that wouldn’t be surprising considering the success that this game has had, which is already positioned as the third installment of the most successful series. The theory is once again pointing to Kalos, a Pokémon region that was already associated with Galar in the introduction of Pokémon Sword and Shield because of the way the maps look.
The theory comes from the Twitter user @Pualitics, who mentioned the following in a tweet now removed:
- Suspicious train on the world map
- UK and France are close geographically
- Kalos has a lot of open ends which need explaining
- Masuda said there’d be a big postgame
“Yep, its Kalos time”
A return to Kalos would be huge – both in terms of fan reaction and the size of the region. This is one reason why it may not come in a DLC.
Following this, many fans have been speculating about the possibility of Pokémon Sword and Shield receiving Kalos-related content after The Crown Tundra. The possibility of a new game related to both Galar and Kalos has also been discussed, which would serve as a sequel to Pokémon Sword and Shield in the style of the Pokémon Black and White and Sun and Moon sequels. This is in addition to the fact that the recently released edition includes the base game + the expansion pass, which suggests that a standalone game is more likely.
