Age of Wonders 4: How to Unlock New Heroes

Age of Wonders 4 has four different Unit Types that are accessible to the players throughout the game or in some special events. The most powerful unit type in Age of Wonders 4 is Hero. A Hero is a ruler that is decided by the player at the very start of the game as well as later in the game. Players will start with 1 Hero after creating the Faction but as players progress in the game, they can unlock new Heroes.

How to Unlock New Heroes in Age of Wonders 4

Heroes are the Rulers and Leaders of your Cultural Unit Types and they are the most versatile units at your disposal. You can unlock Heroes by the following Two Methods.

• Unlocking the New Magic of Tomes
• Recruiting Old Heroes

When you progress in the game, you will be asked to unlock a new Tome of Magic of any Affinity. By selecting a Tome of Magic of any Affinity, you will be granted certain bonuses along with Affinity Points and a Hero of the same Tier as the Tome of Magic. So, if you unlock a Tier IV or Tier V Tome of Magic, you will get a hero of Tier IV and Tier V who are the strongest among all of the other units.

Now, the second method of unlocking the Heroes requires a resource named “Draft”. When you claim a new city with your army, you will also take some Prisoners. You can view the prisoners by going into the Prison Section of the City and if there is a Hero of claimed city in the Prison, you can convert them and recruit them as one of your Heroes.

Now, the number of Heroes that you can have is tied up to the number of cities you hold. Each time you claim a new city, you will be asked to select a New Hero for the City. You can change the Heroes for the cities as well by selecting the Hero Tab.
