• Completing Contracts
• Looting Chests
• Buying from Traders

Contracts become available once you have progressed in the main story until you reach one of the Hidden Ones’ Bureau. You can find the contracts inside the bureau and complete the contracts to earn certain materials as a reward.

Looting chests can give you various materials along with trinkets and other goodies. As you explore the city and use the Eagle Vision, you will be able to find most of the chests hidden in your surroundings that you can loot to get materials for free. If you are near any Hidden Ones’ Bureau, you might find a chest inside the bureau that contains ammo for your tools along with materials so, make sure to check it to get the possible materials.

Lastly, you can buy the materials from the traders. Believe it or not, it is the best way to get the required materials for your upgrade purposes.
