best beginner tips and tricks in saros

Saros is a third-person fast-paced action video game with a roguelite progression system. It is not a standard story adventure game, but a quite difficult roguelite that requires fast reflexes and the ability to manage multiple combat mechanics. Beginning your adventure in Saros as a casual player might be too much for you, as you would have to adapt to its fast and chaotic environment. Moreover, players who enjoy roguelite titles would also have to learn the core mechanics to improve each run. In this guide, we will tell you the best beginner tips and tricks to keep in mind in Saros.

Best Beginner Tips and Tricks – Saros

Learn All Projectile Types (Attacks)

The first and foremost tip for any player starting out in Saros is that they should learn all projectile types. There are two types of projectile attacks in Saros: Orbs and Beams. Both of these projectile attacks have different colors that specify how you should react to them.

  • Blue Orbs: You can dodge or absorb the blue orbs using your shield. Your shield absorbs the power from blue orbs, which is a fuel for the Power Weapon.
  • Yellow Orbs: Similar to blue orbs, you can dodge or absorb the yellow orbs with your shield. However, absorbing power from yellow orbs builds Corruption on your health bar. If you use Power Weapon, it will deplete the built-up corruption. Moreover, if you are using a corrupted (type) weapon in a run, the more corruption you have, the more powerful the weapon will be.
  • Red Orbs: You need to either dodge or parry the red projectiles. If you hit a parry on the red projectile, it will send a shockwave back at enemies, damaging and staggering them.
  • Yellow/Orange Beam: You can dodge or dash through the yellow or orange beam to avoid the damage. However, using a shield against it will deplete your power.
  • Red Beam: You cannot dash through the red beams. It is best to dodge out of the way.

Pick Up All Lucenite (Resource)

Lucenite is the primary resource you get from eliminating the enemies and around the biomes. Collecting Lucenite builds up your proficiency level, which dictates the level of weapons you find in the run. Having a higher Proficiency Level will grant you a higher-level weapon. Moreover, the main use of Lucenite is to use it to get permanent upgrades in the hub. Every time you complete a run, you bring back the number of Lucenite you have. However, if you die during the run, you still bring back a decent percentage of Lucenite gathered in that run.

Use Shield to Absorb Power

As I mentioned in the first tip, Shield lets you absorb projectile attacks to generate power. Power is essential to use the Power Weapon. Every time you see blue projectiles coming at you, use the shield to absorb the power. Do not be afraid to use the Power Weapon in the fights. Absorb the power using the shield, and then unleash the Power Weapon by holding L2 and pressing R2.

Carefully Pick up Artifacts

Artifacts are the temporary, random modifiers you will find in every run. These modifiers reset after every run, requiring you to pick them up in every run to go for a certain build/strategy. Now, the main reason you want to carefully pick artifacts is that every artifact grants a bonus to one of the three core attributes of the protagonist. Potentially, you want all three of the core attributes as high as possible for the long run. However, the weapons you find in the run also align with your attributes.

For instance, if you have a high Drive attribute, you might want to pick up a weapon aligned with Drive for a better result. The tricky part that the game does not tell you is that you can only pick up to 10 artifacts initially. So, if you are hoping to build a certain strategy for a run, you must choose carefully which artifacts to pick before running out of space.

Understand Core Attributes

In addition to the previous tip, it is better that you learn what each attribute does.

  • Resilience: It increases the maximum Armour Integrity (Health). To increase your maximum health in a run, you want to increase Resilience.
  • Command: It increases the maximum Power. If you want to make more use of the shield and the Power Weapon, the Command attribute is the way.
  • Drive: It increases the maximum Proficiency Level. You can increase the proficiency level further by investing in the Drive attribute. The higher the Proficiency Level, the better the weapon.

Always Pick Halcyon (Resource)

Halcyon is another resource crucial for getting Permanent upgrades from the Armor Matrix. It is a limited resource, and you can only find a finite number of Halcyon in every biome. So, if you open a node and see a sparkling purple orb (Halcyon), take it without any second thought. You don’t have to worry about losing Halcyon, as it stays with you when you return to the hub after the run.

Playing Video Games is the very first hobby that I partake in and it became my favorite hobby. Played Unreal Tournament 2004 as my first game which made me a fan of FPS Games. Story and Adventure Games are still my Cup of Tea to go with as they give more detailing to the described worlds and characters. I love to help out my fellow gamers across all over the world by making my publications.
