How to get mushrooms in Animal Crossing New Horizons and what you can make with them

As you probably, the world of Animal Crossing New Horizons changes completely depending on where we are in the northern and southern hemispheres. The course of the seasons alternates: if now we are in the northern hemisphere in spring, in the southern hemisphere they are in autumn. That affects events, the type of fish and critters that come out, and other objects like mushrooms.
That means that all players who live in the southern hemisphere (or chose their island in the southern hemisphere even though they live in the real world in the north) can already find mushrooms around the island. This item grows around trees, although rare shampoos are found buried underground. They leave 5 a day.
In New Horizons, they are just another crafting material. With them, you can create up to twelve recipes that you will find floating in balloons during the season. Mushrooms (and their recipes) will only appear on the island during the month of November in the northern hemisphere or May in the southern hemisphere.
