Jagged Alliance 3 – How to Level Up Mercs

Leveling Up Mercs is one of the crucial mechanics of Jagged Alliance 3 as it allows players to increase the overall Level and Rank of currently hired Mercs. As it is not that simple to hire other mercenaries due to lack of money, leveling up and training the current Mercs is more beneficial.

How to Level Up Mercs in Jagged Alliance 3

Players will get to Hire up to 3 – 5 Mercs at the beginning of the game that can be used for several missions in the early game. During this period, players will have to Level Up those Mercs to increase their stats as well as their Rank. As there are 4 different Ranks of mercenaries and their fees are according to their rank. The higher the rank, the higher the fees. Instead of ending the contract with the mercenaries to hire new higher-rank mercenaries, it is better to level up current mercenaries to increase their overall potential.

To do so, players will have to keep the mercenaries on every mission, and as they complete the objective of the mission and gain experience, they will level up. Every mercenary has a specific role and as they fulfill their role, they will level up more quickly. As an example, if Fox heals up the squad quickly before starting the mission, she gains experience that will level her up. The same goes for the Mechanic who can fix or repair items before the mission as well as on the field to gain additional experience.

Players can view the Level Up progression of every mercenary in the A.I.M Evaluation tab. This tab can be viewed in the same window from where players hire mercenaries. Simply select the A.I.M Evaluation tab right next to the A.I.M database and it will show the gained experience along with increased stats of the mercenaries.

Try to level up mercenaries for at least 3 – 4 Levels before replacing them throughout the whole game. Even in the mid-game, players can choose to do this method to efficiently balance their money.
