Japanese event brings Zarude and Celebi to Pokémon Sword and Shield

Serebii shared details about an upcoming Pokémon distribution event for players in Japan. This event will allow fans to get the Mythical Pokémon Zarude and Celebi in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

The Zarude and Celebi event is loosely tied to the launch of the upcoming anime film Pocket Monsters the Movie: Coco. This movie was originally scheduled to release on July 10, 2020, in the region, with Zarude launching in-game beginning on June 15, 2020. However, the movie will now premiere later this year as a result of the coronavirus.

Fortunately, The Pokémon Company has opted not to delay Zarude’s debut in Pokémon Sword and Shield for much longer. Instead, trainers can obtain a serial code to receive Zarude through a special pre-booking distribution beginning on August 7, 2020. As an added bonus, the Zarude event will also include a shiny Celebi distribution code. Both Mythical Pokémon will arrive in your game at level 60.

More about the Zarude and Celebi event

The Zarude and Celebi event will presumably function similarly to the distribution initially planned for earlier in 2020. Fans will receive their serial codes after pre-booking a ticket to see Pocket Monsters the Movie: Coco. While the event will begin on August 7, 2020, it does not yet have a set end date.

Zarude will come holding Leftovers and will have Leaf Guard as its Ability. It will know Close Combat, Power Whip, Swagger, and Snarl. Conversely, the shiny Celebi will have a Lucky Egg as its held item, along with the Natural Cure Ability. It will know Magical Leaf, Future Sight, Life Dew, and Heal Bell.

This event will bring Zarude to Pokémon Sword and Shield for the first time. In addition, it will be the only way to get Celebi in Sword and Shield without the use of Pokémon HOME. Currently, it seems that only Japanese fans will be able to participate in the Zarude and Celebi event. Players will have to wait and see if a separate event is planned for Pokémon fans abroad.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
