New details for Studio Ghibli's theme park, set to open in fall 2022

Based in Nagakute (Japan), Studio Ghibli’s amusement park shows us its recreations of the Howl’s Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro’s House, or the Dondoko Forest.

If there is an animation company that has amazed the world, it is Studio Ghibli. With more than 20 years behind it, the studio founded by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Toshio Suzuki, and Yasuyoshi Tokuma will even have its own theme park.

Just like Nintendo, Studio Ghibli will soon have a new temple for its millions of fans around the world. Based in Nagakute (Japan) and with an opening planned for autumn 2022, we already know new details about it.

As a good theme park, in it, we will find lots of recreations of buildings and characters from the Studio Ghibli movies. There will be no shortage of the Howl’s Moving Castle, the Dondoko Forest, or the House of My Neighbor Totoro, which will be available on a real scale … a dream, in short.

The opening date is planned for the autumn of next year, but the truth is that the latest images show that its construction is going from strength to strength. The facades of the buildings are already designed and embodied, although there is still time to cook.

This Studio Ghibli theme park is being built in the former headquarters of EXPO 2005, now known as EXPO Park. We can visit it in the city of Nagakute, in Aichi prefecture. It will have more than 200 hectares and is about 3 hours drive from Tokyo.

The idea behind the Studio Ghibli theme park is to forgo the usual roller coasters and mechanical constructions. Given the naturalistic style of the studio’s works, the attractions will be considered as respectful environments with the environment. For example, with trails and routes .

As a curiosity (and great news), in the park, we will find the same trees that were already in the natural area. Miyazaki, one of the founders of Studio Ghibli, insisted that no trees are cut down or nature damaged when building the park.

These are the areas planned for the Studio Ghibli amusement park, of which you can already see some images:

  • The Hill of Youth (based on Howl’s Moving Castle)
  • Ghibli department store
  • Mononoke Village (based on Princess Mononoke)
  • Valley of the Witches (based on Howl’s Moving Castle and Nicky the Witch’s Apprentice)
  • Dondoko Forest (based on My Neighbor Totoro)

The Studio Ghibli theme park will open its doors next fall of 2022, with tons of attractions from the studio and a natural environment that will be worth visiting.

GameStop Employees Resign, Leaving Customers Without Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The employees of the GameStop branch in Michigan resigned from their jobs, leaving a note on the door of the establishment. On this note, they complain about the poor working conditions, such as excessive workload and low wages. Interestingly, they chose a critical day to leave this note, the release day of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, leaving customers who had pre-ordered the game unable to pick up their orders due to the lack of staff in the store.

However, in the note, they made it clear that they appreciated their regular customers and apologized to them for the inconvenience. Below, you can read the note that the GameStop workers left on that day:”

Zelda game came out

The abrupt resignation of the GameStop employees left both customers and industry observers in shock. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by retail workers, particularly within the gaming industry, where demanding workloads and insufficient compensation often prevail.

While the employees’ decision to resign on the day of a highly anticipated game release undoubtedly caused inconvenience to customers, their note demonstrates genuine remorse and appreciation for their loyal patrons. By shedding light on the inadequate working conditions, they aim to raise awareness and prompt discussions on the treatment of retail workers in the gaming industry.

This incident also draws attention to the importance of fair compensation and reasonable working hours for employees, as well as the need for companies to prioritize their staff’s well-being. Japanese Man Arrested for Monetized Upload of Copyrighted Gameplay Videos and Spoilers on YouTube

In a significant development concerning copyright infringement and the unauthorized dissemination of spoilers, Japanese authorities have apprehended a 52-year-old man for uploading gameplay videos of the visual novel Steins;Gate: My Darling’s Embrace on YouTube. The individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, had monetized the videos, including revealing the game’s ending, thereby violating copyright laws and potentially depriving the rightful owners of their due revenue.

The arrest came as a result of a joint effort by law enforcement agencies and industry stakeholders committed to combating copyright violations. The accused individual admitted to his involvement in the illicit activity, leaving the severity of his punishment yet to be determined.

Notably, the blogger expanded his uploads beyond the Steins;Gate: My Darling’s Embrace visual novel, sharing excerpts from the anime adaptation of the game, as well as fragments from another anime series titled The Spy Family. Although it is not uncommon to find videos featuring Japanese bloggers showcasing gameplay content on YouTube, this case stands out due to the blogger’s monetization of the infringing material.

Steins;Gate: My Darling’s Embrace, the subject of the unlawful uploads, is the property of Kadokawa Corporation, a prominent media conglomerate that holds a 69.66% stake in FromSoftware—a renowned developer known for titles such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and the upcoming Elden Ring.

This arrest serves as a stark reminder of the importance of copyright protection and the enforcement of intellectual property rights in the digital age. Unauthorized publication of copyrighted material, coupled with monetization, undermines the creative and financial interests of content creators, publishers, and associated stakeholders. It also hampers the industry’s ability to maintain artistic control and generate fair revenue from their original works.

As Japan grapples with this infringement case, its legal system and authorities face the challenge of striking a balance between the preservation of intellectual property rights and the promotion of freedom of expression within the online realm. The outcome of this arrest and subsequent legal proceedings may shape future discussions surrounding appropriate penalties and deterrence measures for individuals who engage in unauthorized content sharing and monetization.

In light of this incident, it is essential for YouTube and other online platforms to collaborate with content creators and copyright holders to establish robust mechanisms that discourage copyright infringement and protect original works. Such collaborative efforts can help foster an environment where both the rights of copyright holders and the enjoyment of online content by a wider audience are safeguarded.

Japan’s ongoing efforts to combat copyright infringement and protect intellectual property rights require continuous adaptation to the evolving digital landscape. As technology advances, legal frameworks, and enforcement mechanisms must keep pace to ensure a sustainable ecosystem for all participants involved, facilitating the responsible sharing and enjoyment of creative content while upholding the principles of copyright protection.

Unveiling Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - A Year of Refinement and Polishing for an Epic Release

In a recent interview with journalist Gene Park of The Washington Post, game director Eiji Aonuma shed light on the reasons behind the delay of the highly anticipated game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Aonuma revealed that Nintendo’s primary goal was to ensure that every aspect of the game met its high-quality standards. Paying particular attention to the physics and overall gameplay experience, the development team strived for perfection, leading to the decision to postpone the game’s release. This article explores Aonuma’s comments on the development process, the focus on gameplay elements, and the eventual success of the game.

Nintendo’s Pursuit of Perfection

Aonuma emphasized Nintendo’s dedication to delivering a game that aligns with its rigorous standards. The company wanted The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to exceed expectations in every aspect, prompting the development team to ensure that the physics within the game functioned precisely as intended. Aonuma further revealed that the majority of the game’s development had concluded by March 2022, when the delay was announced. The extra time allowed for fine-tuning and refining the game to meet the desired level of quality.

The Importance of Gameplay Understanding

During the interview, Aonuma shared insights into the decision to hold a small gameplay presentation in March. Based on player reactions to the game’s trailer shown during a February Direct event, the development team noticed that while players responded positively, there was a lack of enthusiasm. Aonuma speculated that players had not fully grasped the gameplay mechanics and the fun elements that Tears of the Kingdom offered. The subsequent gameplay presentation aimed to address this issue and provide a better understanding of the game’s unique features and enjoyable experiences.

Challenges and Satisfaction in Game Development

Aonuma admitted that developing Tears of the Kingdom proved more challenging than its predecessor, Breath of the Wild. Despite the difficulties, he expressed satisfaction with the final outcome. Aonuma mentioned that as he grows older, completing a test playthrough of his own game takes longer, typically spanning over a week rather than a day. Nevertheless, he has no plans to retire from the industry and hopes that Tears of the Kingdom will inspire players to think creatively and apply their imagination not only in the game but also in real life.

The Release and Record-Breaking Success

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was released on May 12th and swiftly set a sales record for the series. Within the first three days, the game surpassed 10 million copies sold. This remarkable achievement reflects the anticipation and enthusiasm among fans who eagerly embraced the latest installment in the beloved franchise.
