Nintendo Direct May Be Taking Place In September
The next Nintendo Direct might not be that long in coming. A Nintendo insider has now revealed that another edition is planned in about two months. Thanks to the insider, we also know which games could be the focus of the Direct.
When could the next Direct take place? Nintendo insider Samus Hunter is a big Metroid fan and has heard that the next Direct will take place in September. The broadcast date is said to be sometime around the release of the Switch title Wario Ware: Get It Together! which will take place on September 10, 2021:
What will be shown in the Direct? The focus of the Direct is primarily on the games that were shown during the E3 Direct in June. Namely, Samus Hunter mentions the games Metroid Dread, the remake of Advance Wars, and Mario Party Superstars.
In addition, Nintendo’s promised content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons for 2021 will be addressed in more detail. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will also make an appearance, of course, introducing the final DLC character for the game. Likewise, the new story content for the Hyrule Warriors: Time of Devastation DLC will be shown.
In addition, Samus Hunter addresses the possible cooperation between Microsoft and Nintendo. She has heard about the rumors, but can’t confirm what exactly it is. However, if the cooperation is to be revealed, the Direct in September could be the appropriate occasion.
A number of premieres will also be presented in the direct edition. According to the Nintendo leaker, these include the following:
- New Resident Evil game for the Switch
- New Kirby game
- New Monolith title (responsible for Xenoblade Chronicles, among others)
- Bayonetta 3
However, the insider adds that the game announcements are not 100 percent fixed. Rather, the games are projects that are in the final phase of development and could soon be presented in more detail. Direct in September could be the right time for this.
We’ll classify the rumors
Is Samus Hunter a reliable source? The insider said in a previous tweet that their sources are located in Europe. Therefore, the leaker could not give any information about the games shown at E3, but only speculate:
But even at this point in time, user Samus Hunter named the new Kirby project, the Monolith game, and the already revealed Wario Ware title, among other things. So it could actually be that one of the titles will be shown in the next Direct.
However, that does not mean that the next Direct will take place in September. Even if a Direct is planned for September, Nintendo could change plans at short notice.
Focus on Metroid Dread
Should the Direct actually take place in September, the focus could actually be on Metroid Dread. The game will be released on October 8, 2021, but we know next to nothing about the background story.
Metroid Dread is a 2.5D title in which Samus Aran shoots and jumps through space stations and complexes, as is typical of the series. She is chased by a robot creature who will probably be one of the main opponents in the game.
