Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur – How to Do Smelting
Building Kingsmarch in Settlers of Kalguur expansion of Path of Exile takes a lot of time and certainly effort of many hardworking workers. These workers will pursue various guild factions with your help including Smelting, mining, disenchanting, farming, and shipping. However, one of the earlier guild factions you should consider prioritizing is Smelting as it will help you turn various ores into bars that are essential for both building and improving Kingsmarch.
This guide will help you begin the Smelting guild in Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur.
How to Begin Smelting in Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur
The first step in beginning a smelting process is establishing a smelting guild. To establish the Smelting guild, go to the Kingsmarch and upgrade the Town Recruitment rank to 2. It will highlight the Smelting icon on the map, meaning you can now unlock it. However, before you can unlock it, you need to gather 3 Crimson Iron Ores and 3 Orichalcum Ores.
NOTE: Crimson Iron Ores can be mined at Rank 1 of the mining guild while Orichalcum requires Rank 2 to be mined.
Once done, open the map and make your way to the hammer icon location. Here you will get to unlock the Smelting guild for 20 Gold, 3x Crimson Iron Ore, and 3x Orichalcum Ore. The first rank of Smelting will allow your hired workers to smelt crimson iron and orichalcum ores and turn them into bars.

As you further upgrade the rank of Smelting establishment, your workers will smelt more rare ores. However, you will first have to upgrade the rank of the Mining establishment to get the rare ores for them to be turned into bars at the Smelting establishment.

Without mining, you cannot get rare ores to turn them into bars at the smelting, and ranking up the mining establishment requires resources from the farming establishment.
