Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: How to Evolve Scyther into Scizor

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have many Pokemon in the game and all of them can be evolved into a new shape by fulfilling the specific requirement. Different Species require different types of requirements. Some species require specific Battle Items, some require a specific Level, some require a specific Friendship level, and some can be evolved by trading as well.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to Evolve Scyther into Scizor in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Evolving Scyther

Scyther is a Bug Type and Water Type Pokemon that can be found in the Bamboo Groves and Northwest part of Paldea. Players can get it by catching it after engaging it in the fight. It can be leveled up by using it in the battles, interacting with it, or washing it. However, Scyther does not evolve by increasing its level or increasing the friendship level. It only evolves by trade holding a specific item. Scyther is one of the few Pokemon that requires a trade while holding a specific item to evolve into a new shape.

We’ll get to the trading part later, let’s talk about the item that you need to give to Scyther before doing the trading. The item that you are looking for is a Metal Coat which is available for buying in the Delibird Presents Shops in all of Paldea. Players will be able to buy the item for 3,000 Poke Coins from Delibird Presents shops without even progressing in the story of the game. After that, you just need to open the bag and use the Metal Coat and give it to Scyther.

Now, once you have got the Metal Coat equipped on Scyther, you need to go to the Poke Portal and link the trade of Scyther. In order to do that correctly, you must have an internet connection because trading can only be done if both of the players have an internet connection so make sure that you are connected with the internet and then you need to go to the Poke Portal and choose Link Trade. You will see two options here, before you get to begin the search, you need to set the Link Code.

Now, the link code that you need to set for Scyther is 02600260. The question of why you want to set only this code is because the regional Dex number of Scyther in the game is 260 and Set Link Code requires an 8-digit code so players trade Scyther by putting in the code 0260 0260 which makes it easier to find the players who are also trading Scyther holding the Metal Coat.

After putting in the Link Code, you just need to begin searching and after a few moments, you will find a player who is also trading a Scyther. Once you have found the trading player, you’ll be taken to the Pokemon Box screen. you just need to select Scyther and confirm it and then wait for the other player’s decision and then a cutscene will play in which you trade Scyther with another player’s Scyther.

After the cutscene, the Scyther will begin to evolve and it will evolve into Scizor. Players can also use the link trading to get other Pokemon as well.
