Insomniac staff have said on social media that there were no crunches during the creation of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s different performance modes were covered by the game’s key developers: Creative Director Marcus Smith and Game Director Mike Daly.

According to them, players will be able to choose between two modes: either with 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, or with 60 FPS, but lower resolution.

In July 2020, Insomniac Games announced that its other game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, will also have an optional “performance mode” – but with 4K and 60 FPS.

The first gameplay of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which was shown first in June at the PS5 presentation, and then in August at the Gamescom 2020 opening ceremony, according to Digital Foundry estimates, was recorded exactly in 4K mode and 30 FPS.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is an upcoming third-person shooter platform game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 5. It will serve as a canonical continuation from Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus as well as purely act as a standalone title on its own
