The Rocket League on the PS5 will lag behind the Xbox Series X | S in framerate performance

Good news for fans interested in trying Rocket League. Apparently, the game will become free this summer.

Remember that until now it was necessary to pay for the game, but it seems that in the coming months it will stop costing money and will be available for free download on Nintendo Switch and other platforms. In addition, it has been confirmed that those responsible are planning to launch cross progress for the game in order to save and transfer the game between different platforms, as well as improvements in tournaments and challenges.

Here is the official message:

After almost five years, millions of players and billions of soccer games played, it’s time to talk about the next Rocket League chapter. The game wouldn’t be where it is today without our dedicated and amazing community. Today, we are pleased to announce that we are preparing to make that community even bigger. Starting this summer, Rocket League will be playable for free !

What does this mean for the Rocket League gameplay you know and love? The core game will remain the same, but we are refining the main menus to make exploring the game easier. Plus, we’re revamping and improving important features like tournaments and challenges, and introducing cross-platform progression! Rocket League action on the field will continue to be the same high-octane hybrid of sports and action you love today, and soon, even more players will share that love. This begins with the launch of Rocket League on its newest platform: Epic Games Store.

Once Rocket League is playable for free, anyone who already owns Rocket League on any platform (including Steam) will be able to play and enjoy the game with full support for future updates and features.

Anyone who has played Rocket League online prior to the release of the free version will be rewarded with the Legacy, which includes:

  • All Rocket League brand DLC released before it’s free
  • “Its T. 20XX «, a title that shows the first year you played Rocket League
  • More than 200 common objects upgraded to “legacy” quality
  • Golden Cosmos Boost
  • Dieci-Oro Wheels
  • Huntress Player Banner

Also, if you played online prior to this announcement, you will also receive the Faded Cosmos Boost. Legacy rewards will be awarded once the free version is released later this summer.

You might be wondering what will happen to the hard-earned inventory you’ve unlocked over the years. Don’t worry, it will be available to you when the free version is activated! In addition, we present multiplatform progression with free matches, and you can bring items, the progress of the Rocket Pass and your competitive rank to each platform where you play Rocket League, thanks to an Epic Games account. Stay tuned in the coming months.

There will be much more to announce as we get closer to the free launch of Rocket League, such as new features, content, and the cross-platform progression mentioned above, so feel free to follow us on Twitter and visit RocketLeague.com for the latest updates. We would like to thank all members of our community for their continued support as we approach this milestone, and we look forward to introducing our game to a whole new audience!

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
