Rumors emerge of a new Xbox exclusive Banjo Kazooie

Rumors arise of a new Xbox exclusive Banjo Kazooie. This, like other rumors, was first leaked on May 4, 2020, by an alleged former employee of the Xbox Game Studios. And they have gained strength after part of their leaks confirmed some of their predictions, among them, the most important, the announcement of Perfect Dark as The Initiative project. In that leak, it was announced that the Banjo Kazooie reboot was being worked by Double Fine.

However, Tim Shafer himself denied that he was working on this game. Tim Schafer is one of the most influential video game directors of all time, having worked on beloved point-and-click adventure games like The Secret of Monkey Island, Full Throttle, and Grim Fandango. Schafer is also known for founding video game developer Double Fine Productions which was bought by Microsoft in 2019.

Microsoft has shown recent interest in reviving old IPs from developer Rare with titles like this year’s Battletoads and the upcoming Perfect Dark. In fact, Rare is one of those studios that carry with them a great legacy of good and important games. Besides Banjo and Perfect Dark, Rare has, for example, Conker’s Bad fur Day. And as Rare looked at right now being busy with their new game Everwild, many users and fans saw Double Fine as a possible candidate to develop a Banjo-Kazooie sequel or reboot.

But not only them. Also, the same leak that had predicted Perfect Dark, specifically said that it was Double Fine who was behind the project. However, on a recent IGN podcast, Tim Schafer denied rumors that he was working on a new Banjo Kazooie. This is not to say that a new game is not actually being worked on, but that Double Fine is not in charge.

As with Perfect Dark, and other games that we have heard many rumors and leaks about, and have ended up being official, we could be facing a future announcement of a new Banjo Kazooie. Microsoft’s interest in making this generation the most important for Xbox cannot be denied. And it’s all those classic IPs that can give your brand a major boost. We will still have to wait for official announcements.
