Combat

The combat of Star Wars Jedi; Survivor is exponentially improved from its original game. The developers have made it more challenging and fun for hardcore players who like to use the dodge and parry mechanics more often in combat encounters. In order to survive the fight and turn out as a successor, you will have to learn these mechanics to take down bigger enemies or bosses of the game.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to dodge & parry enemy attacks in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Dodge Enemy Attacks in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

The very basic move to avoid an enemy attack is to dodge it. Dodging will allow you to evade an enemy attack and reposition yourself in combat. Dodging can be done in two ways in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. You can either Dash in a direction or roll in a direction. Dashing will allow you to simply move from the side of an enemy attack whereas rolling will allow you to cover more distance than dashing. You can use both of these dodging mechanics by the following steps.

  • When you see an enemy attacking you with a projectile or with a melee attack, press the Circle Button (PlayStation), B Button (XBOX), or Z Button (PC) to dash in another direction.
  • To use the rolling method, press the dodge button twice and your character will roll away from the attack.

Rolling can be great to get close to the enemies quickly and allow you to find an opening to attack them.

Parry Enemy Attacks in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

The most crucial mechanic of combat in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is to Parry an enemy attack. Parrying an enemy attack will stun them for a moment and you will get the opening to counterattack them. It is also the hardest mechanic of combat to master in Jedi Survivor because it requires the perfect timing to parry an attack. You can parry the enemy attacks by following the following steps.

  • Press the L1 Button (Play Station), LB Button (XBOX), or Right Mouse Button (PC) right before an enemy is about to do a Melee Attack. Your character will Parry the enemy’s attack and you will get to counterattack them.
  • The Parrying can also be done on Projectiles as well. If you see Stormtroopers shooting a laser gun at you, you need to press the Parry Button right before the laser hits you to deflect the laser at the enemy’s position. If there are more projectiles then you will have to repeatedly press the button to deflect all of the projectiles.
  • The Parrying Button is also the Block Button so, if you don’t feel like parrying, you can hold the button to stay in a blocking stance to block the attack of an enemy. However, blocking more attacks will break your character’s stance which will leave you in the open for the enemy to attack you.

Which Enemy Attacks to Parry in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

There are two types of enemy attacks that you will encounter in the game. One of them attacks is regular and you can Block/Parry all of them and the other attack is a heavy attack which is unblockable. You cannot parry unblockable attacks nor block them so the play here is to only dash or roll away from an enemy’s heavy attack.

You will see a Red Flash on the enemy when it is about to do its heavy attack. When you see it, you need to maintain a safe distance either by dashing away or rolling away from an enemy attack to dodge it. So, you must figure out which attacks to dodge and which attacks to not dodge during combat to defeat the enemy easily. It will require some practice so make sure to practice your parrying skills on normal stormtroopers enemies.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
