Coen is capable of learning numerous abilities and perks across multiple skill trees for survivability, combat, and exploration in The Blood of Dawnwalker. As you complete the prologue and take a step out of Leslea Glen, you will realize how big the Vale Sangora is. However, due to the lack of horses or any type of mount, running to every part of the world can be underwhelming. This is where the Haste and Shapeshift abilities for Coen come into play. Unlocking these as early as possible makes exploration and traversal efficient. In this guide, we will explain how to get the Haste and Shapeshift abilities early in The Blood of Dawnwalker.

To acquire the Haste and Shapeshift abilities for Coen, you must acquire and learn the Mercurial Fervour (manual). It is an epic Witchcraft manual that unlocks the Haste ability under the Witchcraft Skill Tree. Moreover, Haste is the primary requirement for the Shapeshift ability, but to unlock Shapeshift, you must reach Corruption Level 1. Lastly, you need 2 Skill Points, one for each ability, so that you can Haste in the daytime and Shapeshift at night.

How to Get the Mercurial Fervour Manual

The Mercurial Fervour Manual can be obtained through various means. One of the earliest ones that you can get it is by completing the Ancient Circle (Activity) in the swamps, northeast of Briar Sloughs Crossing Shrine.

NOTE: You have to do the Ancient Circle during the daytime.

Head to the activity location and use the Witchcraft spell on the coffin to initiate the Ancient Circle. Defeat all the enemies and then loot the chest beside the giant slab to get the manual.

Moreover, you can also get Mercurial Fervour by completing a quest to free the Miller from the prison. It is one of the earliest side quests you can pick up after the prologue. Head to the Mill, south of Leslea Glen, kill the guards, and speak with an NPC to accept the quest. After that, head to the prison and free the Miller. Once done, escort the Miller out of the prison safely, and you will get the manual.

How to Unlock Haste Ability

learn the mercurial fervour and visit the shrine to unlock haste

After learning the Mercurial Fervour manual, visit any shrine to unlock the Haste ability. The Haste ability will be in the bottom right corner of the Witchcraft tree skill.

How to Unlock Shapeshift Ability

reach corruption level 1 and visit the shrine to unlock shapeshift ability

Although you have gained the Haste ability, you still need to reach Corruption Level 1 to unlock Shapeshift. To increase the Corruption Level, you need to feed on blood. Human blood works best, as it raises the corruption the most. During the night, use the Voracious Bite ability on humans to feed on their blood. It does not take long for the first level, so a few enemy guards will do the trick.

Once you have Corruption Level 1, visit any shrine and spend a skill point to unlock the Shapeshift ability. The Shapeshift ability is in the bottom right corner of the Vampirism skill tree.

How to Use Haste & Shapeshift in The Blood of Dawnwalker

Press the sprint action twice to activate haste

Using the Haste and Shapeshift abilities is as simple as sprinting. All you have to do is press the “Sprint” action button twice to trigger the ability. In the daytime, Coen activates Haste, and Shapeshift at night, turning himself into a wolf.

Both of these abilities use Stamina. It is best to increase the maximum Stamina and level up Haste and Shapeshift to cover more distance with the abilities.

Playing Video Games is the very first hobby that I partake in and it became my favorite hobby. Played Unreal Tournament 2004 as my first game which made me a fan of FPS Games. Story and Adventure Games are still my Cup of Tea to go with as they give more detailing to the described worlds and characters. I love to help out my fellow gamers across all over the world by making my publications.
