Donkey Kong to appear in animated Super Mario movie

Nintendo can boast some of the best franchises in the world of video games. Some of them are Super Mario and Donkey Kong and we are going to talk about them today.

This time we get an interesting rumor related to the Donkey Kong saga. Nintendo is reportedly looking to resurrect the series and a new title is currently being developed by Nintendo EPD, the team responsible for Super Mario Odyssey.

Here are all the details that have been shared:

  • The media source claims that the game will be in 2D (or 2.5D) and not 3D.
  • This rumor is also supported by recent comments from leaker Zippo:

It’s the great ape’s 40th anniversary, and while I’m not sure how Nintendo is celebrating the occasion, there’s a new 2D DK game being developed by EPD Tokyo. Obviously, Retro is busy with other things, so Nintendo has taken it upon themselves to bring DK back as an in-house series. Don’t expect the “Country” moniker to return, as EPD Tokyo isn’t interested in making a sequel to games they haven’t made. Diddy, Cranky and the Kremling Krew should return in this installment. It looks like this game will be released before the end of the year. It seems very likely to be announced at E3.

However, as always, we recommend not throwing the bells on the fly, since it is something that has not been officially confirmed. What is clear is that the franchise has been quite inactive since Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, which we remind you that debuted on Wii U in 2014 before being ported to Nintendo Switch in 2018.

I enjoy playing games, and gaming is a passion of mine. Among my favorite games are Tears of the Kingdom, GTA, and Cyberpunk.
