The release date for Biomutant: Open-World-RPG comes earlier than expected

Biomutant and its release, that’s a long story. Literally, because the open-world game was originally supposed to appear in 2018. Nothing came of that, so the developer postponed it to 2019 and then to 2020. After the multiple release postponements and one last sign of life in summer 2020, it was finally quiet again.
But now the developers are getting out of hand, and right away: Biomutant has a release date and will appear on May 25, 2021. This means that the release will still take place in the first half of the year, which is quite surprising in view of the long radio silence.
Collector’s Editions are coming
Publisher THQ Nordic announced in a press release that two different special editions of Biomutant will appear in addition to the Standard Edition. So if you want to hold something physical in your hands, you can choose from these two editions, depending on the depth of your wallet:
The Collector’s Edition costs 110 euros and includes:
- the game Biomutant,
- a character of the game hero,
- a great fabric artwork and
- the soundtrack
- in a premium box.
The Atomic Edition costs 400 euros and includes:
- the game Biomutant,
- a detailed diorama,
- a T-shirt (size L / XL),
- an oversized mousepad,
- a steel book,
- a great fabric artwork and
- the soundtrack
- in a premium box.
The special editions should be available for pre-sale on the official website with immediate effect. However, only the Standard and Atomic Editions can currently be pre-ordered in Germany. We checked with THQ Nordic how the Collector’s Edition is doing and will keep you up to date.

The long way from Biomutant
The whole hustle and bustle about postponed release dates had different reasons. In a detailed interview on Biomutant, the founder of the developer Experiment 101, Stefan Ljungqvist, explained where the problems were most recently. The relatively small team had to adjust to the effects of the Corona crisis and to work in the home office, which is why the original schedules could no longer be adhered to.
According to this, Biomutant has been finished in terms of content and functionality for a long time, so that Ljungqvist and his team can mainly concentrate on quality assurance.
