After a while, after having made many turns with the left stick, you will see that the Discman himself appears on the screen, so you just have to click on him and from that moment you can use him in the game mode you want.

However, the only drawback is that Discman is not permanently unlocked, so every time you want to play him you will have to go through this same process when you return to the character selection screen.
