Windrose: Fishing Guide – All Fish

Windrose is a through-and-through survival crafting game set in the Golden Age of Piracy. It is essential for the players to explore and scavenge all resources to build, craft, and survive. As it is a long journey and requires multiple biomes to clear, it is crucial to learn all the core mechanics. One of the mid-game mechanics is fishing, allowing you to catch various fish for potential buff food items. In this guide, we will tell you everything you need to know about fishing in Windrose, including all the fish that you can catch.

How to Unlock Fishing in Windrose

Similar to the farming feature, you must first unlock the fishing feature in Windrose before you can catch fish. To unlock Fishing in Windrose, you must first get your hands on a Fishing Rod. The earliest fishing rod that you can come across is the “Simple Fishing Rod”, which you can craft at the Workbench (Level 2).

Now, before you can craft the Simple Fishing Rod, you have to make progress in the main story and reach the Foothills biome. It is the second main biome, which you can access after defeating Thomas Richards (the main boss in Coastal Jungle). Once you have made it to Foothills, look for Divi-Divi trees to get Hardwood. As you gather the Hardwood by cutting the Divi-Divi trees, you will unlock the recipe for the Simple Fishing Rod.

How to Craft a Simple Fishing Rod

The next step is to gather the materials necessary for crafting the Simple Fishing Rod. While you are in the Foothills biome, make sure to gather Hardwood and Foothills Iron Ores, as you will be needing these resources. Moreover, make sure that your Workbench is Level 2; otherwise, you cannot craft the simple fishing rod. Here are all the resources that you will need to craft a Simple Fishing Rod.

• 5x Hardwood
• 3x Rope
• 2x Foothills Iron Ingot

How to Catch a Fish in Windrose

Upon getting a Fishing Rod, you are ready to start fishing in Windrose. You can catch fish by standing near any body of water. Here are the easy steps to follow to catch a fish in Windrose.

• Equip the fishing rod and cast the line into the water by pressing LMB.
• Wait for a big splash in the water at the position of the bobber. Do not react if the bobber moves or gets pulled underwater.
• Once you see a big splash in the water, that is the key moment you need to press LMB again to reel in the fish instantly.

There is no reeling-in mini-game in Windrose. All you have to do is wait for the splash and then press LMB to catch a random fish. Upon catching a fish, you can turn it into a Fish Fillet by using it from the inventory. Press RMB while hovering over the fish in the inventory to turn it into Fish Fillet.

NOTE: All fish are turned into Fish Fillet upon the “Use” action.
